Tripura Gramin Bank, with its sole objective to promote the socio- economic status of the downtrodden people of Tripura, came into existence on the 21st December, 1976 under the sponsorship of the United Bank of India. It is the only Regional Rural Bank operating in the state of Tripura having Branch network covering all the eight districts of the state.

Tripura is a state in Northeast India. The third-smallest state in the country, it covers 10491.69 sq km and is bordered by Bangladesh to the north, south, and west and the Indian states of Assam and Mizoram to the east. In 2011 census, the state had 36,71,032 residents, constituting 0.3% of the country's population.

The economy of the state is primarily agrarian. The development is based on agriculture apart from a segment of village and cottage industries. Tripura Gramin Bank has now become an integrated part of state economy for its commitment and contribution to the process of economic up-liftmen of the people of the state. Beside normal banking business, Tripura Gramin Bank has extended diversified services like payment of monthly salary to a larger section of the employees of the State Govt., TTAADC, School Teachers, payment of students stipend, payment of daily wages to MGNREGA workers, old age pension and collection the value of Food grains from Fair Price Shop dealers on behalf of the State Govt.

Tripura Gramin Bank has been attaching topmost priority in implementation of micro credit particularly direct lending to SHG (Self Help Group), JIG (Joint Liability Group) formed mostly by women entrepreneurs. Due to large branch network and customer friendly service rendered by the staff members, Tripura Gramin Bank has been able to earn the confidence of all sections of people of the state. Bank has extended hassle free OD(overdraft) loan upto Rs.5000/ to PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jahna Dhan Yojna) A/C's holder for encourage opening their SB A/C with '0' Balance.


Through Corporate Social Responsibility, on the occasion of observance of 41st Foundation Day of the Bank a special ?Blood Donation Camp? had been organized by the Bank on 18th February 2017. Hon'ble Chief Minister of the State Sri Manik Sarkar graced the occasion as Chief guest. On the initiative of Tripura Gramin Bank Women Development Cell, Women's Day 2017 was celebrated successfully at Tripura Gramin Bank Head Office on 25th March 2017. Part of the day, 23 destitute girls of "Jawaharlal Neheru Balika Niwas" were given RIP certificates of Rs.2000/- each along with some grocery and essential day to day items.An account has been opened to raise funds from staff members of bank for the purpose, also in future the funds raised through this account can be used for any emergency/crisis faced by women members of bank. As part of the programme, the women members of the bank participated and delivered their valuable thoughts on a topic "Crisis of women- Family & Job". Also to memorize the day, bank has launched a Mobile ATM which was inaugurated by Respected Chairman of bank.


Tripura Gramin Bank celebrated its 41st Foundation Day by organizing cultural programme at Muktadhara Auditorium. Many staff members of the Bank participated in the cultural programme. The essence of the social and cultural programme helps participants to gain a valuable overview of local heritage, and to enhance links between different classes of people.
